George Ranch Student Named a National Merit Finalist

Congratulations to Senior Ava B. for being a National Merit Finalist! Ava made it into the National Merit Scholarship Corporation’s group of about 15,000 other Finalists in the nation! Being a Finalist means that these students scored in the top 1% on their Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) and have met high academic standards and other requirements for the final phase of judging for the scholarship.

The Nation Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) seeks to recognize students who perform at an exceptional level on their standardized exams. Students need to take the PSAT to be considered for recognition by the NMSC. The scores that determine whether students are recognized as Commended Scholars or Semifinalists are set by each state using the NMSC’s Selection Index. Students that store in the top 3-4% are recognized as Commended Scholars, and Semifinalists score in the top 1%.
