Ways to Get Involved in Lamar ISD

Children reading a row

We have many important dates for our Summer Lakes community students and parents to know for the year! Summer Lakes would like to recognize a Terry High School graduate for his selection as an “Outstanding Performer at the 2019 Texas State-Solo Ensemble Snare Drum Solo Contest.” According to the state director of music for the UIL, Bradley Kent, this award is equivalent to a state champion award in all UIL events. Now, there has been a more aggressive movement in the mission to save the earth, which means less paper and plastic wherever we can help is. Lamar CISD is hopping on the bandwagon by requiring parents to fill out online forms on Skyward Family Access instead of paper for the Beginning of School year documents. If you have forgotten your Family access login or password, please contact a Family Access representative. If you are unsure of who exactly to contact, you can see the list of support representatives here. We’ll also include a link at the bottom of this post for your convenience.

At Summer Lakes, we believe that community involvement is crucial for your child’s success in school. The more parents are involved, the more support your child will believe they have. This encouragement is what will continue their success into the later years of their life.

Here are some ways to get involved –

Navarro Middle School needs volunteers for Monday, August 19 from 10 am – 2 pm to “Put Together First Day Folders”, and Tuesday, August 27 from 10 am – 2 pm for “Preparations for House Reveal”. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Jean Spencer at jspencer@lcisd.org or 832-223-3700. See the Facebook post for more information.

Arredondo Elementary is hosting a “Pie the Principals” event that families will have to fill out forms in Family Access online by Tuesday, August 20th to see! This event will be one that the whole family can enjoy and show their kids that it is definitely okay to be silly for a good cause.
