Grow & Learn
Children living in Summer Lakes and Summer Park attend the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District.
Arredondo Elementary School opened in 2015 right inside the Summer Lakes/Summer Park community.
Lamar CISD has many points of pride, including over 20% of teachers in the district holding advanced degrees; 41% of teachers have more than 10 years of teaching experience; a low student to teacher ratio of 16 to1; 2009 recipient of the HEB Award for Excellence in Education, Large District; hands-on computer instruction for all students; increased participation in advanced placement testing; swimming instruction as part of the 4th grade P.E. program and so much more:
- Three National Blue Ribbon Schools in the past 11 years
- College and Career Facilitators are at every high school campus, helping find financial aid and opportunities for graduates.
- Smaller enrollments provide more opportunities for students to assume leadership roles and participate in campus activities (750 for elementary schools versus 1000 in some districts; high schools are designed for no more than 2000 students).
- Lamar CISD has sixth-grade-only campuses which focus on the needs of pre-adolescents, providing a smooth transition to secondary schools.
